GZ Presented at TAC Conference 2024 in Montreal

GZ’s team of tunneling experts presented at the Tunnelling Association of Canada (TAC) Conference 2024 in Montreal, Canada, this week.

The TAC Conference is the annual tunnelling event for Canada which will feature some incredible keynote speakers, plenary presentations, technical sessions, and a trade exhibition, all designed to highlight advancements in green tunnel design, construction and project delivery in the tunnelling and underground construction industry in Canada and around the world.

On Monday, October 7th, at 11:15-11:30AM, GZ’s Tunnel and Geotechnical Director Hamid Javady and Tunnel Engineer Hamza Tariq presented on “Strategic Rehabilitation of Toronto’s Yonge University Line Tunnel Liners Using Advanced Digital Assessment Techniques”. The presentation showcased the proposed methodologies and anticipated outcomes of the project, highlighting the collaborative effort’s contribution to the field of tunnel maintenance and the ongoing commitment to enhancing the structural resilience of Toronto’s subway system.

On Tuesday, October 8th, at 08:45-09:00AM, GZ’s Partner Dominic Reda gave a presentation on “Design, Planning and Construction of New Passageway Tunnel for Circulation Improvements at Grand Central – 42nd Street Station, New York City” which focused on the innovative solutions that went into design and planning considering construction access, site logistics, risk management, structural retrofitting, detailed instrumentation and monitoring, and impact assessments.

On Tuesday, October 8th, at 11:15-11:30AM, GZ’s Senior Tunnel Engineer Thomas Martin was holding a presentation on “Considering All Factors in Choosing a Leak Remediation Methodology” which highlighted that selecting the correct method or methods depends on full consideration of the structures use, owners priorities, its installations, structural conditions, the surrounding ground, and hydrogeologic conditions.
