Consulting Services: Tunnel Rock Bolt Design and Geologic Evaluation Review:

The Luck Stone Corporation will be construction a Connector Tunnel linking an existing quarry with a proposed pit west of Goose Creek in Leesburg, Loudoun County, VA. The Inter-Quarry Connector Tunnel consists of a ~46-ft wide main tunnel. The Tunnel is approximately 1,480-ft long and would cross under Goose Creek with roughly 50-ft of cover.

Frontier Kemper Constructors (FKC) will excavate and support the Luck Stone Inter-Quarry Tunnel (IQT) using the Sequential Excavation Method (SEM). The current revision of the work plan outlines the SEM construction methodology and sequence of works for the construction of the IQT, detailing in particular the following aspects:
• The principles of the SEM tunneling process
• How standard excavation process will be implemented and managed on the project

Gall Zeidler Consultants (GZ) is providing engineering services to support Frontier Kemper Constructors (FCK) for the construction of the Inter-Quarry Connector Tunnel.
