GZ’s Senior Tunnel Engineer Dominic Reda will be presenting at the 12th Annual Breakthroughs in Tunneling Short Course in Denver, Colorado September 9th – 11th . Celebrating its 12th year, the conference is the longest running of its kind and covers all aspects of tunneling. Mr. Reda’s keynote address, “NATM/SEM Design and Construction,” will introduce the tunnel design principles of the Sequential Excavation Method (SEM).

The presentation will address the main aspects of SEM tunneling including: Ground Classification, Definition of SEM Excavation and Support Classes, Ground Support Elements, Structural Design, Instrumentation and Monitoring, Contractual Aspects, and Risk Management.
